Welcome to the governance pages of our College website. I hope the information is enlightening and useful, as we recognise that as a group we are somewhat invisible unless you come into direct contact with us – usually at College functions.
Our role is statutory, yet quite simple. We are there to support the whole College, but particularly the leadership team, with strategic vision allowing for challenge and celebration.
The full governing body comprises twelve governors, of which our Headteacher is one. We do not have any committees attached to the full governing body as it allows for smarter working and faster decision making. We meet once a month at 7pm. In between these meetings, governors meet with various members of staff, with responsibility for improvement across the College and report back accordingly. We also attend assemblies, concerts, productions, prize giving, celebration evenings and certificate evening. Some of us invigilate exams and attend outside events. As a group of volunteers, we are kept quite busy!
In essence, the College is very fortunate to have access to the skill base of its governors, who give so much of their time; because we all believe every child is an individual, who really does matter.
